Please have students refer to the Delegate Preparation Guide for specifics on awards that will be given out at SWCHSMUN, and what the award philosophy is for SWCHSMUN.
What awards are given out at SWCHSMUN?
We have essentially three types of individual awards. There are committee awards: Best Delegate, Most Outstanding Delegate, and Verbal Commendations. These awards are translated into points that your delegation can earn. The Best Delegate award is worth 4 points, Most Outstanding Delegate is worth 2 points, and a Verbal Commendation award is worth 1 point. In addition we also give delegate awards for Most Diplomatic, Most Potential, and Most Improved Delegate, all of which count for 1 point each. We’ll total up the points that each school earned by their individual award winners and divide by the total number of delegates per school. We’ll determine whether a school qualifies as a large delegation or a small delegation based on whether their school delegation is above or below the average number of delegates sent. For example, if the average number of delegates that each school sends is 13, then schools that send 13 or more delegates will be large delegations, and schools that send less than 13 will be small delegations. There will be four delegation awards: Best Large Delegation Award, Best Small Delegation, Most Outstanding Large Delegation, and Most Outstanding Small Delegation. This way, we have four different schools winning delegation awards.

Independent delegates can attend SWCHSMUN but they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who must remain on campus for the entire Model UN conference. Parents/guardians must be present at the delegate check-in. Independent delegates will not be eligible for delegation awards, only individual awards. Independent delegates must pay $25 to participate, but they don't have to pay the school registration fee. The faculty advisors of the Churchill Model UN team reserve the right to not allow an independent delegate to attend SWCHSMUN.
