SWCHSMUN 2025 will now take place on March 13-14, 2026. We look forward to hosting our 15th iteration on this new date. More details will follow in future posts here on the conference website. 

On Monday, October 6th there will be 51,000 teachers on strike in Alberta. All public and separate school board teachers will be off the job come Monday. 

We got some direction from the CBE on Thursday, October 2nd that stated that there are to be no athletics or extracurriculars from October 6th-31st. The CBE is not anticipating that that is how long the strike will last, but rather they made an executive decision to relieve some pressure from teachers who may return to work during that time frame. 

Our Secretariat and students have put a tremendous amount of work into the conference already, so the Churchill Model UN coaches would rather not completely cancel SWCHSMUN. We are looking to reschedule the conference for a date in the future, that works for our facilities bookings here at Churchill as well. For now, SWCHSMUN isn't cancelled, we just won't be able to host on October 17th-18th. We will keep the country and committee assignments as is for now. 

When we have confirmation of the rescheduled dates for our conference, we will post an announcement here on our conference website. We look forward to still hosting SWCHSMUN. Thank you for continuing to support our Model UN conference!

We are pleased to announce the Secretariat for SWCHSMUN 2025! We will post more details and photos of the Secretariat on their page in the coming months. We're very excited to see what the Secretariat will bring to our 15th anniversary of SWCHSMUN!

After SWCHSMUN, there's probably a lot of delegates in and around Calgary that want to know what the next Model UN conference will be, look no further than ASHMUN at All Saints High School. This Model UN conference will be hosted by the All Saints High School Model UN team (fresh off their big win for Best Small Delegation at SWCHSMUN), and co-hosted with students from Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School Model UN team. 

ASHMUN will take place on November 22-23, 2024 at the All Saints High School campus. For more details on what committees are being simulated and other information please visit their website. Registration is now open for this conference. Spots are limited, so register today!

I'd also like to thank all of our SWCHSMUN Staff. Working as a staff member at SWCHSMUN is a long-term commitment, from writing the background guides, to practicing running their respective committees in the weeks leading up to our conference. I'd also like to thank all of the SWCHSMUN Secretariat members--what an amazing team you were!! I'd like to also thank my fellow Model UN coaches at Churchill, Ms. Laura Phui and Ms. Chelsea Kennett--you're the best!!

We had 16 different schools win awards at this year's SWCHSMUN. Congratulations to Springbank Community High School for winning Most Outstanding Small Delegation, and to All Saints High School for winning Best Small Delegation. Congratulations also go out to Henry Wise Wood High School for winning Most Outstanding Large Delegation, and to Western Canada High School for winning Best Large Delegation. If one of your delegates missed the closing ceremonies, we will be sending those awards out to your school in the next few days.
